HOUSING AND MRVP PETITION
Hello to all those clickity clackity fingers and swirly twirly eys out there I'm getting ready to graduate the women to women progeam next week and for one of my advocay classes i was to pick a topic, any topic I felt needed to be voiced and write abouit it.
I decided to write out a petition to the governor in his time of budget cuts, just as a reminder as to where not to cut from, but as to where i believe he should add funds to.
As you read it I hope you like it, love it, enjoy it and hopefully interst you in joining my movement on to more funds for family stablity if so please feel free to contact me and voice your opinion on it.

Dear Governor Patrick,
In this time of budget decisions, we believe that you should remember what really is important for the people in the state of Massachusetts. We believe with all my body and soul that funding for MRVP and more housing opportunities is so important because without a stable place to live our children will not thrive.
They need emotional and physical stability and a place where they can really call home and not just a temporary placement with the thought in the back of each parent’s head of where are we going to go from here? Will we be placed in another hotel/motel or shelter? Are we going to keep bouncing around through the system until we officially end up on the streets?
We know that our country is suffering an economic depression right now but what are we supposed to do just give up hope and our vision for real homes? For our families to finally become housed and stable can we really rely on the government’s word about wanting change for our futures? We want to know that we won’t live in hotel/motels waiting for a bed to open at a shelter for months on end. Housing options are needed now and more urgently than ever.
Is there really anything more important for the state than for us to have a permanent place where our kids can call it a home? As parents we want them to have a living room and a kitchen of their own so we can do what we have struggled for so long to do the right way. We want to provide for our babies of all ages and lead them to becoming better leaders. Please increase funding for the Mass Rental Voucher Program (MRVP) and other housing opportunities. We cannot wait in shelters/hotels/motels any longer.
Sincerely,
Laura-Maria Suazo
